Yanting Jiang Artist Statement & Bio
Artist Statement
As a visual artist, my practices includes, but not limits to installation, photography, and sculpture. Throughout the past few years of visual arts study and self-discovery in studio experiences in the field of contemporary art and interactive design, I have developed a deep interest of digital design and digital drawing, and am still exploring this field of art. In my current practice, I’m focusing on exploring the relationship between color and space. My idea is to make intricate line work and vibrant color for the viewers using digital drawing, as I find that lines play a part in outlining my thoughts while colors help convey my feelings.
As a visual art student, it is important for me to not only continue developing my skills in these areas of interest but also to expand my abilities for a wider range of practices such as audio, performance, and videography.
Personally, I enjoy reading comic books and have always been fascinated by the imagination of authors and their outstanding use of colors and lines. With those being inspirations that influence my work, my work slowly became more, colorful and imaginative. In addition, my inspirations also derive from my experience and feelings; I’m happy to share my personal experience to the audience, to have an emotional engagement with them.
